Legacy Speckle Park - Purebreds and Prospects

The females are the bread and butter of any operation; they will make you or break you. We keep females that the environment selects for us, the cattle that thrive in our no frills operation become the base of our purebred herd. Cattle that do not perform well in this system are not kept and these genetics go no further. Our females are 1000-1300 lbs and are very efficient at raising good calves under these conditions. They are outstanding mothers and because of the breeds’ efficiency, they are able to maintain condition throughout the year. The females are selected to avoid the extreme; they have many traits that are good, not just one they are exceptional at. This selection criterion gives the cow herd balance and longevity which allow it to be both flexible and economical for a variety of producers’ systems.
