    Legacy Speckle Park

Any ranch isn’t worth their salt if they do not plan for the future.  We will continue to improve our herd with as much in house genetics as possible, and raise quality, not necessarily quantity purebred Speckle Park cattle.  We will be raising more prospect calves, and will not be satisfied until Legacy club calves are shown across North America.  Our ranch is relatively small, 150 cows, this allows us to pay close attention to detail and get things right.  Some might think we are backwards but our commercial herd dictates what direction we go with our purebreds. Some breeders baby their purebred cattle and sell those unthrifty genetics to the commercial cattleman, where they are then expected to adapt to the real world.  This is often where they meet their “Maker”, or fail the test.  Not many cattlemen are as critical as we are, if we don’t like an animal it never gets passed on down the line.

We refuse to sacrifice our integrity for a few quick dollars, in other words “We won’t be bought off”. We grew tired of using bought genetics that put very little emphasis on economics.  As primarily commercial producers we chose to raise purebred cattle that would address economics in a number of different ways.  We know the type of cattle required to provide profitability, and have developed a breeding program and selection system with that goal in mind.  This system is working for us and these cattle will work for you.
